Broadmoor Baptist Welcomes New Counselor

 

My name is Emily Wicker, and I’m a staff counselor at Broadmoor Baptist Church.  I received my Master of Social Work from Baylor University and am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).  I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and women.  I have always had a passion and desire for helping people and knew that God would use me in some way to do that.  I joined staff at Broadmoor in June of 2011 and am so excited to see how God uses our counseling center to help others.  If you would like to schedule an appointment, please contact Erica Beleau at 318-868-6552.

Child-Parent Relationship Training (C-P-R)

Child-Parent Relationship Training (also called Filial Therapy), is a research-based 10-week parenting course that teaches parents how to use some of the same skills that play therapists use to help children experiencing social, emotional or behavioral problems.  This group is for parents of children 2-10 years of age.  In 10 weeks, you will learn how to:

•  Regain control as a parent

•  Help your child develop self-control

•  Effectively discipline and limit inappropriate behavior

• Understand your child’s emotional needs

• Communicate more effectively with your child

C-P-R training will be held every fall and spring.  The group for this fall is already full but look for information to come for spring registration!

Parents can dislike a child's behavior but still feel and convey love. Unconditional love is absolutely necessary.
